DATASET GENERATION The dataset is created using the tangled-anygility toolset. It contains Verfploeter measurement files, routing information (tangler-cli), and statistics of catchment distribution from Verfploter files (vp-cli). Dataset Contents Usenix_anygility_readme.txt - this readme file Usenix_anygility_3_sites.tar.gz - catchment distribution with 3 sites (uk-lnd,fr-par,au-syd) Usenix_anygility_5_sites.tar.gz - catchment distribution with 5 sites (uk-lnd,fr-par,au-syd,us-mia,us-los) Usenix_anygility_7_sites.tar.gz - catchment distribution with 7 sites (uk-lnd,fr-par,au-syd,us-mia,us-los,br-poa,nl-ens) Usenix_anygility_poison.tar.gz - experiment with poison routes em US-MIA. Usenix_anygility_5_sites_2022-03-24_NEW.tar.gz - catchment distribution with positive and negative prepends in 5 sites (uk-lnd,fr-par,au-syd,us-mia,br-poa) Each dataset of 3_sites, 5_sites, and 7_sites had ICMP requests generated in US-MIA includes: - UNICAST test: just one node active - BASELINE: all set of nodes active and no specific routing configuration - NEGATIVE PREPEND: experiment with 1 to 5 negative prepends on each site - POSITIVE PREPEND: experiment with 1 to 5 prepends on each site - COMMUNITY: Measurement using distinct BGP communities Each measurement contains five files: - *.csv.gz : Verploter raw file - *.meta : parameter used to run vp-cli to obtain statistics (stats) - *.meta-convert : parameters to normalize files (this dataset does not contain normalized files) - *.routing : anycast routing setup - *.stats : catchment distribution statistics DATASET FORMAT FILENAME: Each filename contains the routing policy used, active nodes, and timestamp. VERFPLOTER FILES (*.csv.gz): Those files are in CVS files and were collected with Verfploter v0.1.42. Each file represents an entire measurement using the 2019-11-27 hitlist. Verfploter files are in the following format: task_id: internal Verfploter information client_id: anycast site where the packet was received transmit_time: Packet generation timestamp receive_time: Packet received timestamp send_receive_time_diff: difference between transmit_time and receive_time source_address: IP address of the ICMP Echo reply message sender destination_address: anycast IP meta_source_address: ICMP echo request source IP (anycast address) meta_destination_address: ICMP echo request destination IP ttl: Time to live between source_address and destination_address source_address_country: country geolocation data on measurement using maxmind database (GeoLite2-Country.mmdb) source_address_asn: Autonomous system number obtained with maxmind database (GeoLite2-ASN.mmdb) DATASET USE: Please notify us if you are using these datasets. They are used in the following researches: A S M Rizvi, Leandro Bertholdo, João Ceron and John Heidemann 2022. Anycast Agility: Network Playbooks to Fight DDoS. Proceedings of the 31st USENIX Security Symposium (Aug. 2022), to appear. A S M Rizvi, Joao Ceron, Leandro Bertholdo and John Heidemann 2020. Anycast Agility: Adaptive Routing to Manage DDoS.
